Protection and Care for Children, Young People, and Vulnerable Adults

Safeguarding is a vital commitment for the protection of vulnerable individuals from abuse and neglect, particularly within the church community. It is our shared responsibility to ensure the safety of children, young people, and adults at risk.

St. Mary's Syro-Malabar Mission Wellington places the safety and well-being of every individual as our highest priority. Our Safeguarding Team is dedicated to providing help and support in fulfilling this crucial responsibility. We are here to support those who may have experienced abuse or exploitation.

Our Commitment

We follow the code of conduct and safeguarding policies of our Eparchy to ensure the highest standards of protection for all community members.

Trained Officers

To uphold these values, it is imperative that everyone in the church community is knowledgeable about responding to potential harm.

We have designated safeguarding officers who are trained to handle these situations effectively and confidentially.

Support System

We provide comprehensive support for those who have experienced abuse, ensuring they are heard, believed, and assisted.

Reporting Concerns

We encourage the reporting of any abuse or exploitation. Individuals should feel assured that they will receive the necessary support and that their concerns will be taken seriously and addressed promptly.
